Barcelona, Inter Milan and three unnamed Premier League clubs are reportedly lining up a summer move for Borussia Monchengladbach attacker Marcus Thuram.

The France international has impressed in the Bundesliga this season and also performed admirably in the World Cup, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him join a top European club this summer.

With Thuram’s contract at Monchengladbach set to expire at the end of the season, he will be available on a free transfer, so would be a major bargain.

The update comes from reputed transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, who has confirmed that multiple clubs will push to sign the 25-year-old.

Writing for CaughtOffside, he said: “There are really many clubs interested in Marcus Thuram. Barcelona, Inter but especially 2-3 Premier League clubs.

“It’s open and all of them are informed on the conditions of the deal, while Bayern Munich are currently focused on different targets, despite reports on Thuram.”

As previously reported by TEAMtalk, Manchester United and Chelsea have been heavily linked with a move for Thuram, while Tottenham have also registered an interest.

With that in mind, it’s likely that those are the three Premier League clubs Romano is referring to.

Thuram could be the bargain of the summer

However, with two huge clubs in Barcelona and Inter Milan also interested in signing Thuram this summer, it looks like there will be a heated battle for his services.

This season, the Frenchman has scored an impressive 11 goals in 22 Bundesliga appearances, along with making three assists, giving him an average of 0.64 goal contributions per match.

As mentioned, though, where Thuram really caught the eye was playing for France in the World Cup, as Les Blues reached the final in Qatar.

In five appearances in the competition, the attacker put in several top performances, making two assists in the process – including one in the final.

Thuram clearly has the ability to play at the highest level, so it’s no surprise that he is looking to force a move away from Monchengladbach in favour of a big-money move elsewhere.

Arguably, Chelsea are the most in need of reinforcements of the PL trio, given how much they have struggled this season.

On paper, they have some excellent attackers in their ranks. For instance, Raheem Sterling, Mykahylo Mudryrk, Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic are all excellent players on their day.

However, the fact remains that they have scored by far the least goals of the Premier League’s so-called ‘big-six,’ so bringing in a proven goal scorer like Thuram would be a smart move by Graham Potter.

But, it’s likely that Man Utd and Tottenham will also do everything they can to get a deal for the Frenchman over the line, so this could go down to the wire.
