Rade Opacic may have taken ONE’s heavyweight kickboxing division by storm this past Friday at ONE: FIRST STRIKE after stopping Patrick “Big Swiss” Schmid, but he’ll have to wait to get his shot at ONE gold.
Before he comes into consideration, Two other established strikers in Roman Kryklia and Iraj Azizpour will square off for the ONE Heavyweight Kickboxing World Championship on Friday, 29 October.
The old foes will face each other for the inaugural ONE Heavyweight Kickboxing World Title that night in the main event of ONE: NEXTGEN
Kryklia and Azizpour first met in 2017 in the Kunlun Fight Heavyweight Tournament, where Azizpour defeated Kryklia by majority decision.
But the Ukrainian redeemed himself in their meeting by beating Azizpour by unanimous decision to win the 2019 Kunlun Fight Super Heavyweight Tournament Championship.
Kryklia is 2-0 in ONE, having defeated Tarik Khbabez by TKO at ONE: AGE OF DRAGONS and then Andrei Stoica by unanimous decision at ONE: COLLISION COURSE.
Azizpour, on the other hand, will be making his ONE debut.
With the score tied at 1-1 and with the most prestigious kickboxing World Title on the line, expect both giants to come out with conviction when they meet for their rubber match inside the Circle.
