Rod Stewart Shares Romantic 17th Anniversary Photo with Wife Penny Lancaster: '17 Years of Love'

The couple celebrated their 17th wedding anniversary on June 16 after tying the knot in Italy in 2007

Rod Stewart and Penny Lancaster are celebrating their love!

On Monday, June 17, the singer-songwriter, 79, reposted a snap on his Instagram Stories from his son Alastair’s girlfriend Eloise Darlington as he and Lancaster, 53, marked their 17th wedding anniversary.

“Celebrating 17 years of love,” Darlington wrote across the photo as Stewart crouched behind his wife, who was seated in a chair at a table decorated with a floral bouquet.

Stewart, who tied the knot with Lancaster in Italy on June 16, 2007, then gushed at the many years they have been together in total.

“25 years together and no red flags,” his caption read.

Stewart first met Lancaster in 1999 following his separation from his ex-wife Rachel Hunter.

"Rachel broke up with me on a Monday evening, and it was heartbreaking. No one leaves Rod!" Stewart told PEOPLE in 2021. "But that Saturday night, I met Penny at the Dorchester Hotel in London. The bass player in my band, Carmine, said, 'Listen, you've just come out of a long nine-year marriage. You're not ready yet.' "

"I nearly strangled him!" he added. "Six months later, he gave me her phone number and she came over. She has mended my heart in more ways than one."

After finalizing his divorce from Hunter in 2006, Stewart and Lancaster wed a year later. The rocker was also previously married to Alana Stewart from 1979 to 1984.

He also recalled to PEOPLE that he told six women from his band that the key to his long-lasting marriage was intimacy.

"I'm not talking about sex, but a kiss and a cuddle and a hold," he said. "Penny and I do that every morning. We hug each other — sometimes in bed, sometimes out of bed, all throughout the day. It's a wonderful relationship. Lucky geezer, aren't I?"

While the couple share sons Alastair and Aiden Patrick, 13, Stewart is also the father of daughters Sarah, 60, Kimberly, 44, Ruby, 37, and Renee, 32 and sons Sean, 43, and  Liam, 29, from previous relationships.

Meanwhile, the large family recently reunited for the wedding of Stewart’s son Liam, who tied the knot with Nicole Artukovich at the St. Ignatius Church in Dubrovnik, Croatia, in May.

“I’m immensely proud to have witness the beautiful wedding ceremony of my son Liam to his bride Nicole. What a wonderful union of The Stewart’s and The Artukovich’s,” Stewart wrote in an Instagram caption as he shared a large family photo from the wedding. May they continue to find joy, love and laughter for as long as they may live and produce many more baby’s to join their little 1 year old boy, Louie,” he captioned the post.

Lancaster also shared a sweet snap of the bride and groom earlier this month.

"Their love is on fire, their light shines so 🌟 bright. I captured this moment that doesn’t need words,” she wrote.
