When the Rocky Mountains are the backdrop to your life, you share the spotlight with them. In this episode of Building the Dream, House Beautiful’s Market Director Carisha Swanson joins Houston designer Lucinda Loya for a tour of the 2020 Whole Home Concept Home’s main living space: the great room. (Let's not call it a living room: It's so much more than that.)

The entryway’s stunning brass stalactite-esque pendants and zebrawood-inspired wallpaper usher guests into the main space, which is full of texture, warmth, and soothing neutrals echoing the stunning mountain landscape that surrounds the home.

While the floor-to-ceiling fireplace or oversized sectional might be the first things that catch your eye, the details are what really make this room a hub. Extra bench seating is tucked next to the fireplace for more people (or pets) to perch, a custom peekaboo rug shows off more of the gorgeous flooring, and the sectional's performance fabric and extended chaise makes it the perfect spot for working from home, lounging with family, or watching the sunset.
