Roads Closed as Snow Piles Up in Truckee

Authorities said roads including Interstate 80 remained closed on Sunday, March 5, as adverse weather conditions hit northern California.

Footage posted to Twitter by Tsvetomil Hristov, which he said was taken in Truckee, shows mounds of deep snow and efforts to clear it.

The National Weather Service issued weather advisories and warned of “very difficult to impossible” travel conditions.

Nearby, the UC Berkeley Central Sierra Snow Lab said on March 5 that 30.5 inches of snow had fallen at their base in Soda Springs, California, over 24 hours.

The lab said it expected to receive another two to four feet of snow through March 6. Credit: Tsvetomil Hristov via Storyful
