Riyadh celebrates its 'horror weekend'

STORY: People of all ages donned horror costumes and were seen posing for pictures in front of elaborate halloween decorations including skeletons, pumpkins and witches.

“I’m so happy, we usually celebrate this at home with friends and family, it’s the first time that we celebrate it publicly, I’m really so happy and thanks to the people in charge of Riyadh Season who let us see these things on the ground and be happy.” Saudi citizen, Reem Al-Ali said.

The event, which is free for those wearing costumes, was organised by the general entertainment authority as part of the Riyadh Season, an annual cultural, entertainment and sports festival.

The Kingdom has eased many social restrictions in recent years.
