River Fire Explodes in Size, Burning Homes and Prompting Evacuations

A new vegetation fire named the River Fire grew to 1,400 acres near Colfax, California, on August 4.

Evacuation orders were issued for areas in Nevada and Placer Counties, including the city of Colfax, which were threatened by the fast-growing fire on Wednesday.

Local news reports said multiple homes had been burned on Wednesday.
