Risky Liverpool bid to be ‘seriously considered’, as Fabrizio Romano confirms imminent deal that’ll make Klopp grin
An imminent deal will pave the way for Liverpool to sign a tried and tested central midfielder, though the move would not come without a sizeable risk, per reports.
Central midfield is expected to be the position that experiences the greatest change at Anfield this summer. Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will leave as free agents, while much to Jurgen Klopp’s dismay, the Reds are stalling on a new deal for James Milner.
The option in Arthur Melo’s loan deal from Juventus will not be activated. As such, Klopp could lose up to four stars from his midfield ranks at season’s end.
A plethora of new arrivals will therefore be required. Jude Bellingham is the Reds’ primary target, though he’s likely to cost north of £100m and not every midfielder Liverpool sign can cost a nine-figure sum.
Others who’ve been seriously linked with the Reds include Matheus Nunes, Ruben Neves, Joao Palhinha, Mason Mount, Ryan Gravenberch and Inter Milan duo, Nicolo Barella and Marcelo Brozovic.
Today’s update regards the latter, with an imminent deal softening Inter’s stance on letting the veteran Croatian leave.
Indeed, Fabrizio Romano tweeted a new deal for Inter midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu is poised to be signed.
The Turkey international will extend his stay at the San Siro until 2027 and Calhanoglu is the player who’s displaced Brozovic from Inter’s starting eleven this term.
As such, a report from FCInterNews reveals Brozovic – for whom an exit was once deemed unthinkable – could now be on the move.

Liverpool deal there if Klopp wants it
They claim a Liverpool bid will come under ‘serious consideration’ from Inter. From the player’s perspective, Brozovic is happy to remain at Inter, though would consider moving if his place is lost for good.
A move to Anfield thus looks there for the making, though it would not be a risk-free venture.
Indeed, Brozovic is already the wrong side of 30 having turned 30 in November. Liverpool have shown a willingness to sign a veteran or two in recent times, most notably Thiago Alcantara, though the Spaniard’s injury issues have plagued his time at the club.
Furthermore, Reds fans may ask the question: ‘If Brozovic is no longer good enough for Inter, why is he good enough for Liverpool?’
That’s a conundrum Klopp and his recruitment team will have to wrestle with. The fact they are in clear need of at least three new midfielders and their funds aren’t bottomless could play into their thinking.
In any case, with Calhanolgu due to pen fresh terms, a Brozovic deal looks there for the taking.
