Gisondo’s rep tells TVLine that despite Gisondo’s casting as The Daily Planet‘s legendary shutterbug, the actor — who plays Gideon Gemstone, eldest son of Danny McBride’s Jesse Gemstone, in HBO’s religious-themed dark comedy — is not leaving Righteous Gemstones. In fact, he will remain a series regular in Season 4.

Set to be released in theaters on July 11, 2025, Superman: Legacy serves as a significant reset to the DC Extended Universe. Formerly played by Henry Cavill, the DCEU’s new Man of Steel will be portrayed by David Corenswet (Hollywood, The Politician), while Amy Adams is passing her baton to Rachel Brosnahan (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel), who will embody intrepid reporter Lois Lane.
Superman: Legacy‘s TV vet-packed ensemble also includes The Rookie‘s Nathan Fillion as a Green Lantern and The Great‘s Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luther.
“He will absolutely CRUSH this,” Jon Cryer, who portrayed Superman’s arch nemesis across The CW’s Arrowverse from 2019 to 2021, enthused on social media Monday in the wake of Hoult’s casting.
