Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan are back on the television again, this time sharing their passion for books in a new Channel 4 series.

Titled Richard and Judy: Keep Reading and Carry On, the first episode of the series aired on Monday (May 4) and saw the presenting couple speak to bestselling author Adam Kay and former Great British Bake Off host Sandi Toksvig.

Also on the episode, TV judge Robert Rinder and presenter Vick Hope provided their own book reviews, while SAS: Who Dares Wins star Ant Middleton revealed his three top books to survive a lockdown.

Richard and Judy were filmed by a crew of two men (keeping two metres away) who were masked and gloved, and all of the show's guests appeared via video link.

In this time of isolation, the show proved to be just what fans needed, with some calling for more episodes even after the lockdown ends.

One viewer tweeted: "To #RichardandJudy and @Channel4, can we have more of this. Richard and Judy are like family you have missed, it brings a lovely warmth to tea time viewing.

"And also gets people wanting to read, so come on more books with Richard and Judy even after the lockdown."

"#RichardAndJudy's Keep Reading and Carry On was pure escapism!! Looking forward to the next episode tomorrow!!" wrote another.

Another enthused viewer added: "We need more of this show - love it! Books and #richardandjudy who could ask for more. Loved the review for Grown Ups too."
