Residents of Hoover, Alabama, Survey Damage After Deadly Flash Flooding

“Life-threatening” flash flooding swept through parts of Alabama on Wednesday night, October 6, and a flash-flood warning extended through Thursday as heavy rain affected the area, the National Weather Service reported.

Josh McGinnis said he recorded this video on Thursday morning from his home on Patton Chapel Road in Hoover. On the previous night, rainwater had coursed through his property, additional footage shows.

According to the Hoover Fire Department, two people were missing in Hoover after their vehicle got swept away by floodwaters on Wednesday night. The department performed a number of water rescues during the “unprecedented” flooding event, according to a statement.
