Residents Evacuated From Donetsk Amid Shelling

Police in Ukraine’s Donetsk region evacuated residents from the city of Lyman on May 2, amid reports of shelling.

Footage captured by Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) shows scenes of the rescue operation underway as RFE/RL correspondent Levko Stek accompanied police and spoke to the residents.

Regional governor Pavlo Kyrylenko said on Telegram on May 1 that four civilians were killed in Russian shelling attacks on Lyman.

Kyrylenko also said the Donetsk region reached its highest daily death toll in a month on May 3, with 21 civilians killed in Russian attacks. Credit: RFE/RL via Storyful
