‘Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City’ Trailer: Claire Redfield Discovers the ‘Origin of Evil’ (Video)

·1-min read

In the first trailer for “Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City,” Claire Redfield is on the hunt for the “origin of evil” as the film tells the prequel story behind the horror video game franchise.

Hannah John-Kamen plays the iconic character from the Capcom game series in the new “Resident Evil” film, and she’s determined to expose the actions of the pharmaceutical giant the Umbrella Corporation and what she believes is a plot that’s turning people sick and threatening to destroy her small Midwestern town.

“We’re talking Chernobyl if you know what I mean,” a conspiracy video shared with her says. “You gotta help us, Claire. Let the world really know what’s going on.”

After that there’s a whole lot of explosions, zombie freak-outs and gun-running that should be catnip to anyone who’s a fan of the games or the previous horror franchise of six films that starred Milla Jovovich and brought in $1.23 billion at the worldwide box office. “Welcome to Raccoon City,” though, aims to tease out more of the plot details from the original “Resident Evil” games.

Johannes Roberts directs “Raccoon City,” which also stars Robbie Amell, Tom Hopper, Avan Jogia, Donal Logue and Neal McDonough.

Sony’s Screen Gems is releasing “Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City” exclusively in theaters on Nov. 24.
