Rescuers Search Lake Following Deadly Cliff Collapse in Minas Gerais (Photos)

At least six people were killed when a large slab of rock broke from a cliff and fell onto several tourist boats on Lago de Furnas in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais, local officials said.

Lieutenant Pedro Aihara of the Minas Gerais Firefighting Corps confirmed six people were killed in a video released on Saturday. Local reports said at least 20 people were missing and several were injured.

Minas Gerais Civil Defense had warned of heavy rain in Capitolio and to avoid waterfalls in a tweet at 10:22 am local time on Saturday.
