KUALA LUMPUR, April 14 — The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has today arrested another senior aide to Human Resources Minister V. Sivakumar as the probe widens into alleged corruption involving foreign worker recruitment.

The latest suspect has been identified as Sivakumar’s female private secretary and is the latest person to be arrested by the anti-graft agency since investigations began yesterday.

Malaysiakini reported MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki as confirming the arrest and remand of the latest suspect.

“Remanded, but I’m not sure how many days,” he told the news portal when contacted today.

The latest suspect’s arrest comes a day after MACC arrested Sivakumar’s senior officer at the Human Resources Ministry in Putrajaya and a foreign recruitment agency agent.

Yesterday, Sivakumar confirmed that an officer from his ministry had been arrested by the MACC.

He declined to elaborate on the arrest as the matter is now under MACC investigation.

However, Sivakumar said the Human Resources Ministry will give its full cooperation to the anti-graft agency’s investigation.

It was reported that the arrests were over the quota for recruiting foreign workers, which was under the purview of the Human Resources Ministry.
