Report: Justin Gaethje-Michael Chandler bout set for UFC 268 in November
Justin Gaethje is ready to get back into the Octagon.
Gaethje and Michael Chandler have agreed to fight at UFC 268 in November, according to ESPN’s Brett Okamoto.
The two have not signed a contract yet for the pay-per-view event, per the report, but both sides are in agreement for the 155-pound bout — which will likely take place at Madison Square Garden in November.
Gaethje last fought in October, when he fell to Khabib Nurmagomedov in a title fight in Abu Dhabi. Nurmagomedov then retired after the fight, calling it a career with a perfect 29-0 record. Gaethje, who boasts a 22-3 record, had won four straight fights headed into his loss to Nurmagomedov, including wins against Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone and Tony Ferguson.
Chandler holds a 22-6 overall record, but is 1-1 in the UFC after a long Bellator stint. Chandler has fought twice already this year, once in January at UFC 257 ahead of the second battle between Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor — when he beat D Hooker with a first round knockout — and again in May. Chandler fell to Charles Oliviera at UFC 262, which gave Oliviera the title that Nurmagomedov vacated when he retired.
The November bout between the two will be part of the card that headlines the welterweight title fight between Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington.
