KUALA LUMPUR, March 29 — An elderly man shown on video in a scuffle with Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) dogcatchers will be charged with obstruction on Friday, according to ACP Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid.

According to Harian Metro, the Petaling Jaya district police chief confirmed that the charge would be under Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing public servants from carrying out their duties.

“The investigation paper was referred to the deputy public prosecutor and we have been informed that the man will be charged this Friday,” he was quoted as saying.

Earlier, Harian Metro reported that an investigation paper had been opened on the man after an MBPJ official involved in the dog catching operation made a police report.

According to previous news reports, the incident took place on March 23, at Taman Kanagapuram in Petaling Jaya.

In the video, which went viral on social media, the elderly man is seen letting some dogs into a premise before being stuck on the neck with a catchpole wielded by a person alleged to be an MBPJ enforcer.
