Relief Announced for Local Businesses and Residents as Lake Floods in Ireland's West

Extended periods of heavy rainfall in February caused Lough Corrib, in western Ireland, to overflow, leading the government to announce relief packages for local business owners and residents impacted by the flooding, media reported.

Filmmaker Hugh Sweeney captured drone footage of the damage in County Galway on February 27.

Sweeney expressed his sympathies for locals, writing on his Instagram account, “Lough Corrib can fluctuate a bit but this is as high as I’ve ever seen it. It must be a nightmare for local businesses, especially farmers having to see their land completely covered by water.”
