A rally was held outside the UK government's Home Office on Thursday, for the 27 people who drowned crossing the English Channel on Wednesday 24 November. The protesters held signs reading 'refugees welcome' and 'borders kill', and condemned tough immigration policies by the UK government. The tragedy at sea was the biggest loss of life by drowning in the English Channel on record. It included three children, 17 men and seven women, one of whom was pregnant.
