They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery—and if you believe that, then Reese Witherspoon can't stop piling on the praise for her longtime friend and collaborator Nicole Kidman

On Friday, TNT posted new video footage from the 49th AFI Life Achievement Award Gala that took place in April, and in the clip, Witherspoon delivered a spot-on impression of Kidman during a heartfelt speech about the Aussie actress's career. “Most actors wait by a phone to be chosen by a director,” Witherspoon began. “But as an actor, Nicole has always been proactive. Even in her earliest work, she picks her directors."

"(Kidman) will often say to me of a foreign film I’ve absolutely never heard of—like, y’all, I mean, it’s out there—and she’s like, ‘But do you see that director?’” Witherspoon continued, switching from her southern accent to an Australian dialect. “‘I mean, it’s incredible. Reese, we must get her. We must!'”

Returning to her own voice, Witherspoon, who garnered plenty of laughs from the audience (Kidman, included) for her accurate impersonation, added, "I'm like, 'Yeah, yeah, OK! You call her first.' And I'll be on the phone and I'll just be like, 'Yeah, I'm in.'"

Both Witherspoon and Kidman serve as co-producers on the HBO series Big Little Lies, and lucky for fans, a third season is in the works. "We're moving fast and furious, and Liane [Moriarty] is delivering the book," Kidman told Vanity Fair earlier this month, adding: "Yeah, and we're in good shape."
