Red Flag Warning in Place as Wildfires Burn in Utah

A red flag warning was in effect for areas of Utah until 10 pm on Thursday, June 17, as three wildfires burned in dry, gusty conditions.

Utah Fire’s latest update said the Bear Fire, near Helper, had reached 1,225 acres and 30 percent containment; the nearby Bennion Creek Fire had burned at least 8,325 acres and was 17 percent contained.

The service reported “good progress” against the 8,518-acre Pack Creek Fire farther south. Containment there reached 30 percent late on June 16.
