Record Producer D.A. Got That Dope Tunes Into Encino Mansion
In case you didn’t know, the hip-hop/R&B genre is far and away music’s most lucrative sector, accounting for some 31% of the industry and inking new millionaires from across the professional spectrum — artists, producers, songwriters, agents — by the dozen.
Among the most prolific producers feeding the hip-hop resurgence is David Doman, better-known to the general public by his moniker D.A. Got That Dope. The Chicago native has produced his singles for everyone from Eminem and The Game to Jason Derulo and Nicki Minaj, though he’s particularly noted for his close association with Tyga and Chris Brown. To date, the 36-year-old’s biggest chart success is 2018’s “Zeze,” by Kodak Black featuring Travis Scott and Offset, which hit #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and has since been certified five times platinum.
Doman has now reinvested exactly $5 million of those hit song proceeds into a lavish home in Encino, the increasingly expensive San Fernando Valley neighborhood that’s because endlessly popular with wealthy celebrities seeking a suburban and family-friendly lifestyle.
Built new in 2020, the 6,400 sq. ft. mansion is wrapped in trendy modern farmhouse-style architecture, and was “sold before processing,” according to the listing. Because of that, details and photos are scant, but the house includes 6 bedrooms — all of them with ensuite bathrooms — and 7 baths. The .35-acre lot affords a generous motorcourt out front and a wonderfully spacious backyard with grassy lawns, a dark-bottomed plunge pool with inset spa and Baja shelf, and a full outdoor kitchen with an adjoining patio for outdoor dining.
The property also contains a half-court sports court, an array of high-tech cameras, and a three-car attached garage. Most new Encino mansions at this price point also offer an open-concept interiors with a state-of-the-art kitchen, wine room, gym, and movie theater.
