Record-Breaking Rain Causes Flooding in Area Surrounding St Louis
The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a flash flood warning for Belleville, Illinois, near St Louis, on Tuesday, July 26.
The NWS office in St Louis recorded a new daily rainfall high of more than seven inches in only five hours on Tuesday morning, breaking a record set in 1915.
The Illinois Department of Transportation warned drivers to avoid traveling in flooded areas saying “turn around, don’t drown!”
