Real Madrid are thinking about making an offer for Harry Kane in the summer with Tottenham looking to avoid a sale to Man Utd, according to reports.

The Red Devils have the strongest interest in Kane with a report in The Athletic last month claiming Erik ten Hag was now ‘sold’ on making the Spurs striker their top target for the summer transfer market.

Man Utd are desperate to sign a new striker this summer as they look to finally replace Cristiano Ronaldo after the Portugal international left the club in November following a controversial interview with Piers Morgan.

Ten Hag did bring in compatriot Wout Weghorst on a season-long loan from Burnley but the Netherlands international is unlikely to be part of their long-term plans.

However, there have been widespread rumours that Tottenham owner Daniel Levy has no intention of selling Kane to another Premier League club, especially Man Utd.

And now Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo claims that Real Madrid have been ‘offered’ Kane ahead of the summer transfer window and that the La Liga giants are ‘seriously studying it’.

Tottenham have ‘already assumed’ Kane will leave this summer but they ‘do not want to sell’ him to a Premier League club and have ‘decided to transfer’ him outside England.

Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are the ‘main interested’ parties and Los Blancos could attempt to make the deal cheaper by including former Chelsea star Eden Hazard.

The other possibility is that the Man Utd target stays at Tottenham, despite having just a year left on his contract, with CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs describing it as a potential “slight twist”.

Jacobs told The Boot Room: “I’ve said that Kane will wait and see how the project develops before deciding. In theory, Kane would stay at Spus if everything moves in the right direction. There is a slight twist as well that Kane might also stay at Spurs if he was given control.

“Can he maximise the crisis to his advantage and say ‘The only way I’ll stay is if you give me control over the manager and the Sporting Director.’ And basically become more a part of the strategic fabric and not the football fabric at the club.”

Before hearing the news that Feyenoord boss Arne Slot had snubbed interest from Tottenham, journalist Dean Jones doubted it “would take too much to win over Kane” and get him to see out his contract.

Jones told GiveMeSport: “Ultimately, the thing for Kane is that if he stays he’s got one more year to do this. One more year to win something.

“This has been a time when, as the most lethal centre-forward they’ve ever had, he should have been rewarded with some team success.

“With that in mind, of course, you’d like an exciting name that gives him more hope of doing that but equally, I think someone like Arne Slot could do well.

“What if he could be their version of Ten Hag and start implementing fast changes, and they quickly get going in a cup run and can pull off a couple of big wins?

“I don’t think it would take too much to win over Kane in that sense.”
