Real Madrid have reportedly hatched a ‘two-stage plan’ that would see them sign Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham ahead of Liverpool.
The 19-year-old is looking likely to leave Dortmund in the summer. He is under contract until 2025 but recent reports have suggested that is not willing to sign an extension.
Dortmund are often fair with their players and let them leave when major clubs come calling for their services.
Given his contract situation, Dortmund are at least in a strong position and cam demand a huge fee for their prized asset. It has been suggested that he could cost as much as £130m.
Bellingham is one of the best young players in the world and Liverpool are desperate to sign him in the coming months.
It will not be easy for the Reds though as they face competition from the likes of Real Madrid, Man Utd and Man City.
Recent reports have indicated that Madrid are only willing to pay £97m to sign Bellingham, and Sky Germany are now suggesting that clubs “need creative ideas” to sign him.
“If you want to get Jude Bellingham you need creative ideas and Real Madrid seem to have them,” Marc Behrenbeck told Sky Germany.
“They want to make Bellingham cheaper and at the same time offer BVB a top solution.”
Sky Germany add that Real Madrid is ‘working internally on a spectacular two-stage plan to lure the English international to the Spanish capital’ for a ‘mega sum’.
It is noted that ‘in addition to a transfer fee of 100m euros, a swap deal with youngster Eduardo Camavinga is being considered’.
Behrenbeck added: “We did some research and can confirm that this idea at least existed, but we cannot say whether BVB is already aware of this idea.”
Camavinga has only been used sparingly by Real Madrid this season and earlier this month it was suggested that Arsenal were interested in bringing him in on loan.
This has since been refuted by the player’s agent as the Real Madrid star is “very happy” at the Spanish giants.
A swap deal for Bellingham including Camavinga, therefore, appears unlikely. ‘Real Madrid expert Nils Kern’ has told Sky Germany that they “want to keep him” at the club.
“He’s still very young, can play different positions and is pure dynamism. You can’t give up someone like that and Real want to keep him, of course,” Kern said.
“If but firstly if he doesn’t see a long-term regular place and secondly if a corresponding offer comes – similar to Kovacic’s at the time – then Real Madrid would not be entirely averse to winning a transfer.”
