The Real is returning with a new season and a new cast member.
On Monday, the daytime talk show announced that actress and TV personality
Garcelle Beauvais will be joining fellow co-hosts Adrienne Houghton, Loni Love, and Jeannie Mai for its upcoming seventh season. Starting on September 21, fans will get to welcome back the Haitian co-host who most recently appeared on The Real in March to speak about becoming the first Black cast member on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
“I am thrilled to be joining the dynamic, bold, and diverse women on the award-winning talk show The Real,” Garcelle said in a statement. “My love for pop culture and news blended with my natural gift of gab, has always made me gravitate towards a talk show environment. It’s also exciting that it’s happening right after my amazing time joining The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.”
Over on her Instagram, she continued to share her excitement about "sitting at the table with ... amazing women."
For those wondering, The Real fans are in good hands. Garcelle is no stranger to daytime TV. She previously co-hosted the syndicated entertainment news show Hollywood Today Live for two years. Most recently, she launched her weekly podcast Going to Bed with Garcelle in May. In addition, she’s recognized for her work on shows and movies like The Jamie Foxx Show, NYPD Blue, Coming to America, and Spider-Man: Homecoming, among others. She's also put pen to paper to publish three children’s books as part of her “I Am” series.
Shortly after the announcement, Loni dedicated an Instagram post to Garcelle. The comedian included a sweet compilation video of their friendship.
“Welcome to the family @garcelle !!!!” she wrote.
Loyal fans of the long-running show flooded the Instagram's comments section with lots of love.
“Congratulations!! I’m excited for the return ❤️❤️❤️❤️,” one person wrote. “She will be perfect for the show ❤️❤️❤️,” another added. “Yayyy a Haitian 🇭🇹🇭🇹🇭🇹🇭🇹 queen 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾,” a different fan said.
But others, who are still reeling from former co-host Tamera Mowry-Housley’s sudden departure in July, have their reservations.
“Idk about this....😕 seems like the last season of The Real 💔,” a follower commented. “Wow. Didn't expect that,” another said.
Opinions aside though, we’ll for sure tune in next month to watch Garcelle's big debut!
