Inuvik RCMP say they have charged two men with drug trafficking-related offences.

RCMP searched a home in the community on Monday, where they found 37 grams of cocaine, cash and other drug paraphernalia, according to a news release on Wednesday.

Abubakar Bakal, 30, and Mohamad Egeh, 29, both from Edmonton, have each been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of the proceeds of crime.

Police also said Bakal was out on bail after having been arrested in relation to a drug trafficking search warrant in Inuvik in early March. He has also been charged with failing to comply with the conditions of his release.

Both men are in custody and will next appear in court on May 2.

"The Inuvik detachment will continue to focus enforcement efforts on individuals who seek to profit from the distribution of these harmful substances in out community," Staff Sgt. Jesse Aubin, the Inuvik detachment commander, said in the release.
