Rapid Growth of River Fire Filmed in Northern California

The River Fire burning in Northern California grew to 2,400 acres (about four square miles) by the morning of August 5, a day after it began in a forested area east of Yuba City.

This footage, taken by an AlertWildfire monitoring camera, shows the fire growing rapidly during daylight hours on Wednesday, and into the evening.

Some 6,600 residents were under evacuation orders in Nevada and Placer counties, including those in the city of Colfax. At least 50 structures had been destroyed as of Thursday morning, according to authorities. Credit: AlertWildfire via Storyful
