Rains Engorge Washington's Deschutes River in Tumwater

The swollen Deschutes River thundered through Tumwater, Washington, on Friday, January 7, as heavy rain hit the state.

Local news reports said some roads and schools were closed in the area due to flooding.

The National Weather Service’s Seattle office recorded the fifth wettest first week of January in the past 78 years with rainfall totals reaching 4.21 inches in the city as of January 7.
