Rain Records Broken as Monsoon Flooding Overwhelms Mumbai

Strong winds and heavy rain lashed Mumbai, India, on Wednesday, August 5, as monsoon conditions worsened. Winds reaching 100 kmph and the heavy rain caused trees to uproot, cranes to collapse and property damage, according to The Indian Express.

Rainfall records were broken across Mumbai as of Wednesday, the report said, with 293.8 mm of rainfall recorded in a 24-hour period, the highest in 46 years.
