Paramount+ has ordered true-crime anthology series “American Tragedy” as a followup to Paramount Network’s miniseries “Waco,” the upcoming streaming service announced during parent company ViacomCBS’ streaming-centric investor day Wednesday. Per Paramount+, “each season of a new anthology series, American Tragedy, will tackle complicated moments in true crime.” “Waco,” which premiered in January 2018 on Paramount Network, starred Taylor Kitsch as preacher and cult leader David Koresh. The miniseries followed the story of the deadly 1993 FBI raid of Koresh’s compound, a 51-day standoff that ended in the deaths of 76 men, women and children, including Koresh himself. A streaming spinoff of CBS News’ “60 Minutes” will debut next week on Paramount+, the network announced on Wednesday. “60 Minutes+” episodes will be led by correspondents Enrique Acevedo, Seth Doane, Wesley Lowery and Laurie Segall — the same four-person team that created dozens of episodes for the “60 in 6” series on the now-shuttered Quibi platform. Jonathan Blakely, who also worked on the Quibi series, will executive produce. Shows on “60 Minutes+” will be longer than the traditional TV version of “60 Minutes.” The first three episodes, which will be released next Thursday on Paramount+, will feature an interview with Jacob Chansley, the “QAnon shaman” who stormed the U.S. Capitol in January; a profile of the musician J Balvin; and a report on shrinking glaciers. After that, a new “60 Minutes+” episode will release once per week. A “Ray Donovan” feature-length film that picks up where the show’s seventh and final season left off is set at Showtime. Star Liev Schreiber will return to his Emmy and Golden Globe-nominated role, and will co-write the script along with series showrunner David Hollander, who will also serve as director. Jon Voight will also reprise his role as Mickey Donovan, and Kerris Dorsey will return as Ray’s daughter Bridget. Production is scheduled to begin later this year in New York. Marvel has been training fans since 2008 to pay attention to every little detail. So it shouldn’t be a surprise that fans are pretty convinced the fake “Spider-Man 3” titles the cast dropped ahead of the film’s real title reveal might still contain real clues about the movie. Tom Holland’s third solo Spider-Man film will be called “Spider-Man: No Way Home.” But the day before announcing that title, the stars trolled fans on social media by posting some amusing fake titles: Holland joked the film would be called “Spider-Man: Phone Home”; Jacob Batalon claimed it was “Spider-Man: Home Wrecker”; and Zendaya posted “Spider-Man: Home Slice.” Though these titles may not have been real, fans aren’t so sure that there’s nothing to be learned from them. In fact, quite a lot of fans are convinced that the colors of each one are indicative of the film’s villain. Or rather, one of the film’s villains. Because at this point, we’ve already got a few. Meaning that whatever multiverse stuff WandaVision might be setting up — and “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will definitely deal with — could also play a big role in “No Way Home.” But Electro and Doc Ock are also charter members of Spider-Man villain team The Sinister Six, which also includes Vulture (Michael Keaton) who is still very much alive and in jail in the MCU Spider-Man franchise. That’s half of the villainous gang right there. But we met another member of The Sinister Six in “Spider-Man: Far From Home”: Mysterio. Though he died at the end of the movie – remember, Edith confirmed it wasn’t an illusion – Marvel fans are starting think he may return. Why? Because the colors of the fake title cards were green: Tom Holland on Instagram Pink: Zendaya on Instagram And silver: Jacob Batalon on Instagram Now, let’s take a look at the color palette of Mysterio’s costume. Sony Pictures Granted, Mysterio’s bodice and gauntlets seem to be more gold than silver, but a suit change-up has proven to be of minor consequence in the MCU. Spider-Man himself has had four at this point. So, are the colors of these fake-outs alluding to the return of Quentin Beck and his joining the Sinister Six? In it, Peter, MJ and Ned are all looking up at something (or someone). Spider-Man 3 Far From Home Sequel If you look closely, there’s a shadow falling on MJ’s jacket that appears to have a distinctly rounded head. The kind of shadow a suit like this might cause: Sony Pictures Now, again, Mysterio is dead on this Earth. Aside from Vision on “WandaVision,” (and he’s an android, not a biological being), we’ve yet to see a case of someone resurrected from the dead. There’s always the possibility that “No Way Home” could change that. But if Mysterio really were to return, it wouldn’t be out of place to have it be a Mysterio from a different Earth. After all, just because Quentin Beck lied about being from a different Earth at the beginning of “Far From Home,” it doesn’t mean that there isn’t another version of him out there. As one Twitter user pointed out, there’s another famous Spidey villain with a similar color palette of green, pink and silver – one that also had a run with the Sinister Six. Though Holland insists that Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire will not be showing up in “No Way Home,” it’s still possible that the movie will continue to pull from their worlds. All that said, fans could theorize until the day’s done (and likely will), yet the colors of these title cards could mean absolutely nothing, and Marvel just has everyone whipped. Who knows? Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, the creators behind Nickelodeon’s beloved “Avatar: The Last Airbender,” are returning to the company to launch Avatar Studios, a new division that will produce animated projects within the franchise. The studio’s first project will be a film set within the world of “Avatar: The Last Airbender” and sequel series “Legend of Korra,” Nickelodeon boss Brian Robbins said Wednesday at ViacomCBS’ investor day. DiMartino and Konietzko will serve as co-chief creative officers at Avatar Studios, reporting to Nick Animation president Ramsey Naito. The division will produce projects for the newly rebranded Paramount+ streaming service and Nick’s own platforms, as well as for third parties and theatrical release. Paramount+’s upcoming “Rugrats” revival will reunite the entire voice cast from the original run of the Nickelodeon series, the network announced Wednesday. The CG-animated series will see E.G. Daily reprise her role as Tommy Pickles alongside Nancy Cartwright as Chuckie Finster, Cheryl Chase as Angelica Pickles, Cree Summer as Susie Carmichael and Kath Soucie as Phil and Lil DeVille. “‘Rugrats’ is one of the most iconic cartoons recognized by fans around the globe, and this original version is one we are taking great care and pride in creating for a brand new audience,” Ramsey Naito, president of Nickelodeon Animation, said. “Having the voice cast behind these special characters come together is one of the essential pieces to making the show recognizable and we can’t wait to watch this talented group bring them to life again.” Also Read: 'Rugrats': Live-Action Movie Finds Its Director Based on the 1991 Nickelodeon series, the “Rugrats” revival follows a group of toddlers as they “explore the world and beyond from their pint-sized and wildly imaginative point of view.” The series was created by Arlene Klasky, Gabor Csupo and Paul Germain. ViacomCBS has a slew of series adapted from Paramount’s library of films in the pipeline for the streaming service Paramount+, the company announced Wednesday. Paramount Television Studios will produce adaptations of “Love Story,” “The Italian Job,” “Fatal Attraction” and “The Parallax View,” all of which will debut on the streaming service sometime after its March 4 launch. The projects join previously announced series inspired by “Flashdance,” “Grease” and “The Godfather.” The projects were announced by Paramount Television Studios president Nicole Clemens at ViacomCBS’s streaming presentation to investors on Wednesday. Clemens detailed the projects in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, which first reported the news of the new series.
