Queensland Snake Catcher Releases Baby Carpet Pythons Into the Wild

A snake catcher said he relocated about a dozen recently hatched baby carpet pythons into a forest in Nambour, Queensland, on January 6.

Stuart McKenzie, the owner of Sunshine Coast Snake Catchers 24/7, filmed this video as he released the snakelets into the underbrush.

“Yes, it does suck that we’re separating the mum and the eggs, but unfortunately in situations it does have to happen….A majority of the time, all the eggs hatch out,” he said, noting that people don’t like having snakes in their yard.

“Look at all these babas,” McKenzie says in the video as he looks at the carpet pythons wriggling in his bag. McKenzie said he waited for the snakelets to slither off before leaving. Credit: Stuart McKenzie via Storyful
