Queensland Catcher Compares Snake Skin to Actual Snake After Relocating Carpet Pythons

A snake catcher in Queensland compared how big a snake skin is in comparison to the snake that shed it after removing two pythons near a public restroom in Kiamba.

Footage posted to Facebook shows Stuart McKenzie from Sunshine Coast Snake Catchers 24/7 at public toilets near Wappa Dam to catch a large carpet python reported to be hanging about.

McKenzie said in his Facebook post that he was able to easily locate the loo intruder, but got more than he bargained for when he spotted a second carpet python near his car.

“As I walked back to the car there was another carpet python on the move in front of my vehicle. Crazy,” he wrote.

McKenzie relocated both snakes to some bushland, and while he released them, he placed one snake down next to its freshly shed skin to compare the size difference.

According to McKenzie, the shed skin is “always about 25-30% bigger than the actual snake.” Credit: Stuart McKenzie via Storyful
