Queen Maxima of the Netherlands made a true fashion statement in the capital of fashion.

On Tuesday night, the Queen of the Netherlands, 52, stepped out in Paris to open the exhibit “Iris van Herpen: Sculpting the Senses” at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs alongside the artist and First Lady of France Brigitte Macron. In a show of support for the Dutch designer, Maxima wore a semi-sheer beige and blush gown by van Herpen with a high illusion neckline, structured bodice and cascading cape.

The look might feel familiar to members of the Beyhive, as Beyoncé wore something similar over the summer. While opening an Amerstdam stop of the Renaissance World Tour stop in June, the 32-time Grammy winner shimmered in a bespoke illusion mini dress with a dramatic collar and regal cape by Van Herpen, Vogue reported.

Queen Maxima’s daring look echoed the theme of Van Herpen’s new exhibit at Musée des Arts Décoratifs. The Royal House of the Netherlands said in a statement that the couture fashion designer was invited to showcase her work at the largest decorative arts museum in Europe and that the display hones in nine themes including “water” and “skeletons” — inspiration which might have trickled into the looks worn by Queen Maxima and Beyoncé.

According to the Dutch court, “Iris van Herpen: Sculpting the Senses” will be displayed in Paris until April 2024 before traveling to Brisbane, Singapore, Los Angeles and Rotterdam.

At the exhibit opening, WWD reported that Queen Maxima said, “I really congratulate Paris for having this first.”

From bold feathered hats to glamorous gowns, King Willem-Alexander’s wife is known for a fearless sense of fashion. On Nov. 10, the Royal House released new state photos of the royal couple to mark the King’s tenth anniversary year. Willem-Alexander, 56, became monarch in 2013 upon the abdication of his mother, Queen Beatrix, now 85.

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima gave soft smiles in the first shot on Instagram, where the Queen sat and her husband stood behind her. Both wore their royal honors, while Maxima repeated a favorite combination.

The royal wore a ruffled blush gown and the Stuart Tiara, which she previously paired for a state banquet in Belgium over the summer. According to The Court Jeweller, the historic headpiece can hold the 40-carat Stuart Diamond at its center. Scaling it back for a slightly more subtle statement, however, Queen Maxima wore it with a smaller diamond.

In June, the royal donned the combo for the diplomatic dinner at Laeken Castle in Brussels. King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium held the state banquet in honor of King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima’s three-day state visit.

Queen Mathilde and Queen Maxima, both looking regal in pastel gowns with plenty of jewels, seemed to be having fun together. The two Queens' easy rapport had been on display since the start of the state visit, from their joint walkabout with their husbands to checking out the buffet at the dinner. In one storybook scene, Maxima and Mathilde even shared a whisper — and a giggle!

Both Kings gave speeches at the banquet dinner, and guests toasted the good relationship and historical links between the two countries, which share a border.
