Quantum Leap Star Weighs In on That Tom Reveal — Could Ben (and Sam) Return Home?

Could Ben actually return home? That’s the question many have been asking since Quantum Leap’s midseason finale on Dec. 13.

In the episode, titled “Nomads,” Tom (played by Peter Gadiot) came back from his impromptu trip to Washington, D.C., with a giant file that he said contained a “way to bring Ben home.” The intel was recovered from a fragment of a hard drive from the discontinued DARPA project. Nanrisa Lee, who portrays the sci-fi drama’s security expert Jenn Chu, calls this new piece of information a “huge revelation.”

“I think when you have that kind of information, we’re going to see what’s at the end of that. Nobody’s going to shelve that,” she tells TVLine. “This is the point of what we’ve all been trying to do since Ben left; we’re just trying to get [him] home. We’ll see if it works.”

If this clue does pan out, that would also be a gamechanger for OG leaper Sam Beckett (played in the original Quantum Leap series by Scott Bakula). As the parent show’s series finale — which aired back in 1993 — revealed, he remains lost somewhere in time.

Given that leapers generally have no control over where or when they leap, it’s significant that Ben keeps finding his way back to Hannah (Eliza Taylor), the brilliant physicist he first encountered in Episode 3. Addison (Caitlin Bassett) concluded during “Nomads” that the reason the quantum leap accelerator keeps throwing them together is because they’re in love. Lee, however, believes there’s more to it than that.

“Hannah is there for a purpose. There’s a reason why this keeps happening,” the actress notes. “They have developed a love for each other and that is a certain aspect of it, but in the larger perspective, I think it’s bigger than that and we’ll see what happens.”

What do you think? Will Ben come home? And what do you hope to see in the rest of Season 2?
