Qasrina Karim, Nadhir Nasar unite in "My Famous Ex-Boyfriend"
18 Oct - They might have worked together in several promotional projects, but for Qasrina Karim and Nadhir Nasar, the upcoming Astro series, "My Famous Ex-Boyfriend" would be the first time that they will unite as lead stars in the Megadrama slot.
Qasrina, who plays the main character Sameera in the series, says that while she has worked in a movie and given lots of projects on Astro Ceria, this would be her first ever lead role for a more mature drama, which also marks her second time working with director Hadith Omar.
"He saw what I can bring to the table even though I did a lot of Astro Ceria projects in the past, playing cutesy funny characters. I can still be that here, but with a more mature storyline," she said.
Asked the difference between her and her character Sameera, she said there is not much difference between the two, and that she decided to bring her own personality into the role.
"Sameera is not someone who is known for being pretty and all that. She is a girl-next-door... from that I brought my own quirky girl character into the role. But I think Sameera is even stronger than me in terms of facing netizens' backlash," she added.
Meanwhile, Nadhir, who has played mostly supporting or second leads in previous projects, stated that the character of the misunderstood Jamie is very different from his past roles.
"This is a different kind of story and role I have ever taken. It's very mature and very close to my heart. Jamie and Nadhir Nasar are not that different. The only difference is Jamie is someone's husband and Nadhir Nasar is still looking," he said, lightheartedly.
Based on the Alaf21 novel, "Petrichor" by Nurul Syahida, the series stars Qasrina Karim as Sameera, a woman who went viral after getting dumped by her celebrity boyfriend, Haque Zuhal (Hael Husaini). In her attempt to move on, she is introduced to a mysterious man named Jamie (Nadhir Nasar), who also had gone viral in the past, earning him the name "the husband from hell".
