The accompanying teacher, who also takes cultural classes at SK Pekan Nabawan, Ardianfasly Inggu said the support of teachers and parents was crucial for the success.

“The initial stages of preparing the team was fully funded by the teachers with the support of parents including the provision of costumes, music, transportation, accommodation and meals for the pupils,” he told Bernama here.

In addition to focusing on training the pupils and preparing them, there was also the work of raising funds to cover the cost of travelling to Italy, he said, adding that the students involved were from poor families.

Meanwhile, the Pensiangan District Education officer, Norah Marcus described the students accomplishments as result of hard work through constant training, discipline and commitment of students and teachers.

The success of these students is also in line with the Sabah Education Department’s target of achieving 200 student participation in international competitions in 2020.
