'Puli' robot preps to search moon for water ice

This rover is getting ready to go to the moon

where it will search for water ice

(SOUNDBITE) (English) HEAD OF ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING MATYAS HAZADI SAYING: “Its key functionality is to search for water inside the lunar regolit so basically inside the surface of the moon. The way it does that it looks for background radiation and then the background radiation induces a secondary radiation coming out from the Moon and it is comparing the different energy of the background radiation spectrum to find water.”

Location: Budapest, Hungary

The “Puli” lunar rover is

//low cost

lightweight

and is named after the Hungarian ‘Puli’ dog breed //

(SOUNDBITE) (English) FOUNDER AND CEO OF PULISPACE TIBOR PACHER SAYING: “The main advantage of the design is that we are able to cover very harsh terrains, it means that we can climb over 40-45 degrees slopes, we can go upwards we can go also downwards, this is not a trivial stuff, on the Moon we expect such areas.”
