There is no need for Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin to waste time and entertain Umno supreme council member Mohd Puad Zarkashi's challenge to a public debate, a Bersatu leader said today.

Bersatu supreme council member Dr Muhammad Faiz Na'aman said this was as Puad appears to have a personal vendetta against Muhyiddin.

"Puad, what is your problem with Muhyiddin?

"The PM does not need to waste time debating a creature like you because as a leader he is busy with the people's affairs that require more urgent attention.

"If you (Puad) are so obsessed with a debate, do it with someone of your same level," Faiz said in response to the former Special Affairs Department (Jasa) chief's Facebook post today.

The debate invitation came ahead of a one-week deadline for Puad's lawyers to respond to Muhyiddin's letter of demand, seeking a RM10 million compensation for his Facebook post alleging double standards in Covid-19 procedures.

Puad insisted that since the prime minister can sue an ordinary man, he could similarly extend a debate challenge without being told they were not of the same level.

Meanwhile, Faiz alluded to happenings over a year ago and said Puad should be aware of those who had gone back and forth to Muhyiddin's house, in an attempt to convince Bersatu to form Perikatan Nasional (PN).

"The person doing the convincing never placed any conditions to request a position after the government was formed.

"So long as the Pakatan Harapan government was toppled and a 'DAP proxy' prevented from being PM, that was the original aim," he added.

"Now certain Umno leaders are telling tales of the PN government being supposedly unfair to their party.

"Be honest, I would like to ask, unfair to Umno or did not fulfil personal desires of those making the claim?" Faiz asked.

He said rational Umno grassroots members would be able to evaluate the sincerity of their party warlords who often criticise the PN government which Umno is a part of.

Today is also the one year anniversary of the Sheraton Move which saw a group of PKR MPs leaving Harapan and Muhyiddin coming into power as prime minister of the PN government.
