Officers fired tear gas from trucks and advanced at protesters in downtown Kenosha on August 25 on the third night of protests following the police shooting of Jacob Blake.
A crowd of protesters assembled outside the Kenosha County Courthouse, which was protected by a fence and a large law enforcement contingent.
In these videos, a single man is seen standing close to the courthouse fence while a voice over a loudspeaker can be heard saying: “Step away from the fenceline.”
Local media reported that one person was shot during the night of unrest. Neither the circumstances leading up to the incident nor the person’s condition were immediately clear.
Protests first erupted in Kenosha on August 23 after a video circulated on social media showing Blake being shot by a police officer multiple times from behind.
Blake was taken to hospital in a serious condition, according to a police report. His lawyer announced Blake was currently paralysed from the waist down and was unsure if the injury was permanent. The state’s department of justice was investigating the incident.
