Protesters camped in City Hall Park in Manhattan for a second night on June 24-25, as part of a movement calling on the city to cut the NYPD’s budget by $1 billion.
This footage, posted to Twitter by Zak Krevitt, shows protesters sheltering from sprinklers that went off in the park at around 3 am. It also shows “Defund NYPD” projected onto the David N Dinkins Municipal Building,
Krevitt told Storyful that demonstrators planned to stay until at least June 30 and that the group has medical supplies, PPE, and medics on site. This footage also shows where tomatoes, mint and kale have been planted in the park.
