Protesters Burn US Flags Outside White House

Protesters in Washington burned flags outside the White House on Tuesday night, June 23, as anti-racism protests unfolded into the late night across the district.

Protesters created what they called “BHAZ,” or Black House Autonomous Zone, by setting up barricades and pitching tents in an area near the newly named Black Lives Matter Plaza, which is a two-block section of 16 Street NW, and H Street NW.

Police dismantled the camp throughout Tuesday, but it was reestablished by demonstrators early Wednesday morning, reports said. Credit: Rona Dogan via Storyful
