Protesters Breach Guatemala's Congress, Torching Building and Vehicles

Protesters in Guatemala City breached the gates of the country’s congress building on Tuesday, October 19, and set several vehicles on fire.

According to the Associated Press, the protesters were former soldiers “demanding to be paid a war-time bonus for serving in Guatemala’s 1960-1996 civil war”. At least three vehicles and parts of the building were torched and some congress employees fled over a rooftop to escape, as other video circulating on social media shows.
