Protective cow charges locals trying to free calf stuck under lorry

A protective cow kept charging locals who were trying to free her calf from beneath a lorry in southern India last week. The playful young animal wedged itself beneath the vehicle outside a grocery shop in the Pudhukottai District of Tamilnadu on April 29. Every time locals attempted to free the stricken creature, its mother would charge. Eventually, they managed to keep her at bay and pull the calf to safety where it was immediately reunited with its anxious mother.
