  • On October 2 in a high-end restaurant in Buenos Aires, Payne met a 24-year-old waiter Braian Nahuel Paiz.

  • The pair later exchanged Instagram messages, with Payne using a secret account. In an interview with TV station Telefe Noticias, Paiz later claimed Payne was seeking to buy drugs.

  • They went on to spend time together in the days leading up to Payne’s death, Paiz saying they spent the time taking drugs and listening to the singer’s unreleased music.

  • Paiz last saw the singer two days before his death, when he asked Payne to come to meet a friend of his, who was a fan.

Paiz and two others remain under investigation by the Argentinian authorities. The funeral of the singer has yet to take place, but his body is reported to have been repatriated to the UK after his father visited Buenos Aires.
