Russia sends professional sabotage and reconnaissance groups to the Ukraine’s northern border, Ukrainian military spokesman Vadym Mysnyk said on national television on June 12.

"Our intelligence monitors the actions of the troops on the other side of the border. And, of course, professional saboteurs from Russia have been working here continuously — last year, this year, in winter and spring," he said.

"We should not underestimate the enemy."

The Ukrainian defense forces use various tactical techniques to counter these subversive groups.

When asked if Chechen warlord Ramzan Kadyrov's fighters were part of these groups, Misnyk said he had no information about their involvement, but noted that "Kadyrov's units have a different role, serving mainly as barrier units. They have not been used as assault or reconnaissance groups before."

This follows his earlier statement on June 10 that the Chechen fighters have been "mostly covering the [international] border, acting as a second line" near Ukraine’s Sumy Oblast since the winter.

Earlier, Misnyk had said that sabotage and reconnaissance groups of the Russian Armed Forces were trying to change tactics and use the landscape to penetrate the border in northern Ukraine.

On June 9, Kadyrov claimed that his Akhmat Regiment troops had allegedly occupied the settlement of Ryzhivka in Sumy Oblast. Local Ukrainian officials refuted this information, stating that there are no Russian troops in Ryzhivka and that the settlement remains under Ukrainian control.

The village is considered "no man's land," according to the DeepState map. Due to its proximity to the Russian border, Ukrainian troops have not been stationed there since 2022.
