Pro-Palestinian Protesters Gather in Dearborn During Biden Visit to Michigan Auto Plant

Protesters gathered in Dearborn as the president visited a Ford electric vehicle plant on Tuesday, May 18, challenging Biden’s support of Israel amid conflict in Gaza.

President Biden visited the Ford Motor Co Rouge Electric Vehicle Center on Tuesday morning, following days of pro-Palestinian protests in the Detroit suburb. The president met with Ford executives and spoke to employees, the Detroit News reported.

Footage taken by Brendan Gutenschwager shows protesters in front of the Dearborn Police Department on Tuesday afternoon, some waving the flag of Palestine.

At the podium, activist Amer Zahr says to a crowd, “The president is down the street right now. He’s in the south end of Dearborn. He thinks he can just walk into Dearborn.”

The White House shared transcripts of a call between the president and Benjamin Netanyahu in which Biden reiterated “his firm support for Israel’s right to defend itself against indiscriminate rocket attacks.” Credit: Brendan Gutenschwager via Storyful
