Princess Charlene of Monaco Shared a Rare Public Statement About Her Children
She spoke about the unique difficulties of raising twins.
Princess Charlene of Monaco may be one of the most reserved and mysterious members of the royal family, but she opened up about being a mother to the French publication Gala. Charlene shares 9-year-old twins Jacques and Gabriella with her husband, Prince Albert. In the interview, Charlene offered a rare insight into her kids' personalities, saying that her son and daughter are "curious," but in different ways.
"Gabriella is very curious," the Monegasque royal explained. "She is very intrigued by the world and life in general. She asks lots of questions and demands a lot of attention. As for Jacques, he is curious and observant. More reserved, he is naturally very calm."
"The conversations I have with Jacques and those with Gabriella are so different, as well as the time spent with them," she added.
She went on to say that she still finds it "difficult to find time to spend one-on-one time with them" and that she knows that those moments of undivided attention are "essential when you are the parents of twins."
Princess Charlene married Prince Albert back in 2011. Their children were born on December 10, 2014. Since then, they've made just a few rare appearances in public, but People reports that as they grow older, the twins are set to accompany their parents on more and more outings.
Albert spoke about his daughter's personality on her sixth birthday, telling People she was a "pistol."
He explained that she still "has that little mischievous twinkle in her eye. She has her own little personality and sometimes does things that are, you know—she’ll try to use her brother and get him into trouble…"
The prince noted that his son wasn't a pushover, however, saying, "But Jacques stands up to her now, and when he’s had enough, says ‘No!’ So, he’s not squashed by her strong personality."
