Prince Harry Shared a Heartbreaking Letter About Losing His Mother Princess Diana
"We find strength in the love and memories left behind."
Prince Harry is remembering his mother, Princess Diana, with a heartfelt letter offering support to military families across the globe. The prince, who lost his mom when he was 12 years old, shared that he has a deep connection to anyone who has lost a parent, writing that he relates to them "perhaps more than most, the weight of losing a parent at a young age."
Harry serves as a global ambassador for Scotty's Little Soldiers, which posted the heartbreaking letter ahead of Remembrance Day. The organization works to support the children of British military personnel who have died in the line of duty. Speaking on the grief he experienced, Harry wrote that "it can be overwhelming and isolating."
"Yet, in the midst of that heartache, we find strength in the love and memories left behind," he added. "And I have seen how communities like yours can offer deep comfort and healing."
"On this Remembrance Day, I encourage you to take a moment to reflect on the values that your loved ones instilled in you—courage, compassion, and a sense of purpose. These will serve as your guiding light, helping you navigate the challenges ahead," Harry finished.
Nikki Scott, the founder of Scotty's Little Soldiers, shared that the duke "is completely dedicated to Scotty’s" and noted that he has a unique perspective, as he served in the British military and experienced "what it is like for our members to grow up without their parent."
The royal family has a deep connection with the organization. Back in 2015, Queen Camilla recognized Scotty's Little Soldiers at the Hampton Court Flower Show.
