Liverpool have been heavily linked with a move for Brighton star Alexis Mac Allister and he has been tipped to thrive under Jurgen Klopp.

The World Cup winner has gone from strength to strength this season and continues to be linked with a move to Liverpool.

Fabrizio Romano recently revealed that Liverpool fancy their chances of completing a deal for the 24-year-old this summer.

“I can tell you that Liverpool feel they are making progress in the negotiation to sign Alexis Mac Allister,” Romano said.

“They presented their project to the player side so Liverpool had direct meeting to present their project to Alexis Mac Allister.

“They are going to push on the player side and then they feel that they can close the deal with Brighton. So the point is the player.”

Liverpool are in desperate need of a midfield reshuffle and Stan Collymore thinks that this move could be perfect for the player and club.

“If Alexis Mac Allister joined Liverpool at the end of the season, he’d arrive at Anfield as a World Cup winner and I think he would be the top dog,” Collymore told CaughtOffside.

“He’s highly energetic, goes box-to-box, has a goal in him and is exactly what Jurgen Klopp needs given his need for a new midfield.

“It wouldn’t surprise me if Liverpool have had him on their shortlist since before last year’s World Cup so I am sure conversations over an early transfer have long since taken place.”

Mac Allister has scored nine goals and provided one assist for Brighton in the league this season. His relentless work ethic and calming demeanour would make him a good fit at Anfield.

Liverpool need multiple midfielders

As James Milner’s departure to Brighton has now been all but confirmed, Klopp will have his eyes on several players in this position.

With Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain also set to depart, Liverpool have their work cut out. Along with Mac Allister, Collymore thinks that Mason Mount would be a sensible purchase.

“If the Reds can get him and another two or three others like Mason Mount, for example, then I would fully expect Klopp to turn the team back into the competitive force they were a season or two ago.

“It looks like it’s going to be a really busy and exciting summer for Liverpool and their fans.”

Mount is out of contract with Chelsea at the end of next season. As he is yet to commit to a new deal with the club, Todd Boehly could be forced to sanction a sale.

After all, Chelsea are in desperate need of trimming their bloated squad in the upcoming window. Along with Liverpool, Arsenal also hold an interest in the Chelse star.

Bayern Munich’s Ryan Gravenberch has been another name linked with Klopp’s side of late. The 20-year-old would bring a different kind of skillset to Liverpool’s midfield.

The young Dutch star has only started in one league match this season although Bayern do seem keen on keeping him around.
